Toddler Teacher

Position Overview

The Toddler Room Teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children ages 1–3. This role supports each child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through intentional lesson planning, structured routines, and responsive caregiving. The teacher works closely with families and the daycare team to ensure every child feels secure, supported, and excited to learn.

Key Responsibilities:

Lesson Planning & Curriculum

  1. Develop weekly lesson plans that support early learning goals, including language, motor skills, sensory exploration, and social development.
  2. Create hands-on, age‑appropriate activities that encourage curiosity, independence, and creativity.
  3. Prepare materials and learning centers that align with the week’s theme or developmental focus.
  4. Observe children’s progress and adjust plans to meet individual needs.

Circle Time & Daily Routines

  1. Lead daily circle time with songs, stories, movement, and simple learning concepts (colors, shapes, weather, emotions).
  2. Introduce early literacy and language skills through repetition, music, and interactive storytelling.
  3. Support smooth transitions between activities, helping toddlers feel safe and confident throughout the day.
  4. Maintain consistent routines for meals, naps, diapering, and toileting with a focus on safety and comfort.

Child Guidance & Interaction

  1. Build warm, trusting relationships with each child through positive interactions and responsive care.
  2. Model and teach early social skills such as sharing, turn‑taking, and expressing emotions.
  3. Use gentle, developmentally appropriate guidance strategies to support behavior and emotional regulation.

Classroom Environment

  1. Maintain a clean, organized, and child‑friendly classroom that encourages exploration.
  2. Ensure all toys, materials, and equipment are safe, sanitized, and developmentally appropriate.
  3. Create a welcoming atmosphere where children feel valued and included.

Family Communication

  1. Greet families warmly and provide daily updates on each child’s activities, meals, naps, and milestones.
  2. Communicate concerns or developmental observations with professionalism and care.
  3. Support a positive partnership with parents and guardians.

Professional Responsibilities

  1. Follow all daycare policies, licensing regulations, and safety procedures.
  2. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.
  3. Work collaboratively with co‑teachers and leadership to maintain a high‑quality program.


Qualifications

  1. Experience working with toddlers in a childcare or early learning setting.
  2. Understanding of early childhood development and age‑appropriate practices.
  3. Ability to plan engaging activities and maintain a structured, nurturing environment.
  4. Strong communication, patience, and teamwork skills.


Compensation & Benefits

  1. Starting Pay: $12.00 per hour

This rate applies to both full‑time and part‑time positions.

  4. Sick Pay:

We offer paid sick time to support the health and well‑being of our staff. Employees can use sick pay for personal illness, medical appointments, or to care for an ill child or family member. Sick pay is tracked by hours, not by days.
